How to Set Up a Theme ~
If you are familiar with setting up tables
and using rollover buttons
you are ready to download the zip file
for the theme you would like to use.
If you are able to create a theme for your site
unzip all the
images and the page setup (the html file)
into the same directory (take note of the folder name) so that you can setup
your new theme in FrontPage.
If you are unable or do not know how to create a new Theme -
you can create one page for your
web site using the images, save that page -- then use it as a template for any/all other
pages in your web that you would like to use the same theme.
Create a new theme Using Front Page:
To create a new theme, you must change an existing theme
and then save your changes under a new name.
- On the Format menu,
click Theme.
- In the list, select a theme on which you want to base
your new theme.
TipSelect a theme that has the characteristics closest
to the theme you want to create so that you have fewer elements to
change. Or, select the Blank theme; its
elements are very plain so that you can easily tell what you've
changed.
- Click Modify.
- Do any of the following to modify the theme:
Change the colors
- Click Colors, and
then click the Custom tab.
- Under Theme
color set, specify whether you want to change colors for the
normal or vivid color set.
- In the Item box,
click the item for which you want to change the color.
- In the Color box,
specify the color you want to use.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each item you want to
change, and then click OK.
Change the graphics
- Click Graphics.
- Next to Theme
graphic set, specify whether you want to change graphics for the
normal or active graphic set.
- On the Picture
tab in the Item box, click the
graphical element you want to change, and then specify the picture or
pictures you want to use.
To find the graphic in the current web site or file system, click
Browse.
- If the graphical element you selected displays
text, you can change the font by clicking the
Font tab.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each graphical element
you want to change, and then click OK.
Change the styles
- Click Text.
- In the Item box,
click the item for which you want to change the style.
- Under Font, click a
font to use.
To view other options for changing the theme's
style by using cascading style sheets as an inline style,
click More Text Styles.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each item you want to
change, and then click OK.
- Click Save As, type a
name for the new theme, and then click OK.
Note
When you modify a preset theme, you must save your changes to a new theme;
you cannot overwrite a preset theme.
