| Just Let Go! |
|
A man, out for an evening walk, came too close to the edge of the cliff and lost his footing. As he tumbled over the edge his hand was able to grab hold of a limb growing from the side of the steep rock. Hanging on with all his might he prayed and called out for help. It was not long before he heard the sounds of someone walking on the same path he had just fallen from. He called out - "Help, please, help me!" - But after a time of shuffling sounds it was quiet. The man was left alone once more. Again the praying began - this time more fervently than before - he was begging God to send aid. Once more the man heard movement on the pathway above. Once more he called out - this time explaining in his panic that he was below them, and that he had fallen. He could hear them moving around - they seemed to be looking - but they could not see him in the darkness. The sounds moved away - fading in the distance along with his hopes of being rescued. The prayer spoken this time was questioning, "Why, God? Why won't you help me? Please help me!" In the stillness the man heard God speak to him - "Yes, yes -- please, God -- please, help me!" came his answer. "Then let go." How often do we refuse the help God will give us because it does not come in the way we expect - or - because we must step out in faith, believing -- trusting what He says instead of what we 'see'. Psalm 91

| Story from Kenneth Copeland |
|
Read this with an open mind. I get so excited when I think about the power God has given us and I trust that you do too. Whether you believe in visions or not does not really matter, the message is the same. It is time to put on the armor and start wielding the sword! .. spending some time in prayer, when suddenly I saw myself standing in the pulpit of the church. Looking up, I saw a dragon--a horrible, ugly thing--poke his head through the front door of the church. As he came into the church, his body expanded like a balloon, filling the whole room. He was snorting fire and smoke. When, in the vision, he turned it on me, he almost burned my clothes! As I fell back onto the floor, I saw Jesus standing nearby with a sword in His hand. "Why doesn't He do something about this?" I thought. "Can't He see I'm hurting?" But He didn't move. He just stood by with a frown on His face. I could tell He was really put out with me. The Bible says God was not pleased with those who were overthrown in the wilderness (1 Cor. 10:5). And He wasn't pleased with me either as I lay there on my back in defeat. Then Jesus held out the sword to me and pointed at the dragon. The look on His face said, "Get up!" I reached up to catch hold of the sword, and an instant before I touched it, Jesus turned it loose. The sword stayed in midair of its own accord. I grabbed it and began to pull myself up. Not only did it hold firm, but it began to lift me! I stood and touched the dragon's chin with my sword and it split him from one end to the other. It laid him open right before my eyes. In amazement, I looked down at the sword. "Why haven't I used this before?" I thought. Don't wait for God to slay the dragon in your life. You have the sword of the Spirit, the all-powerful Word of the living God, at your fingertips. Pick it up and use it today! Therefore put on God's complete armor, that you may
be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil [day of danger], and having done all
[the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place]. Stand therefore -- hold your ground
-- having tightened the belt of truth around your loins, and having put on the breastplate
of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God; And having shod your feet
in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness and the
readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace. Lift up over all the
(covering) shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of
the wicked [one]. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword, the Spirit wields, which
is the Word of God. |
